Basic Game Plan

I was inspired by a beautiful young lady I saw on a new I found today. healthystride.blogspot.com

So, here is my game plan and I have to stick to this no matter what! I encourage any and all to join my new healthy adventure.

No more excuses, no more wasted time and no more soda pop!

Lots more energy to play with my kids!

Basic Plan:

30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week

3 mile walk (weather permitting) 5 days a week

30 minutes strength training 5 days a week

Motto:

Think about each day as it comes, hour by hour. Don't think

about tomorrow.

ENJOY THE JOURNEY!

Wow, my will power is so weak. Exercise isn't the hard part. Infact I have been enjoying that part of this. ( except for the muscles just above my knees are so sore from all the lunges). I do reallly well with the calories until dinner time. I just fix or grap whatever is easiest at the moment in the midst of all the homework and activities. I need to find some really good healthy recipes to get more motivated at dinner time.

Have you ever been body slammed by a toddler as you are in the middle of a set of crunches. Let's just say that it makes it a rather tough workout. My funny little girl wanted to wrestle in the middle of my work out yesterday. I guess I can chalk it up to a few extra calories burned while laughing so hard and having fun. Best kind of exercise.

I found some easy ways on the web this morning to sneek in so extra exercises.

-Wake up, do ten push-ups & 10 sit ups

-10 butt squeezes while doing laundry.

-10 lunges while waiting for that pot of water to boil.

-10 overhead presses while puting those cans of soup away.

-10 heel lifts while standing in checkout line.

-10 jumping jacks during commercial.

-10 kicks and 10 knee lifts after your favorite show is over.

-carry those few bags to your car instead of push them in the cart.

-park further away so you have to walk a bit.

-take the stairs.

-vacuuming

-washing the floor by hand is a better work out than using the mop.

-sweeping the deck off

-doing squats while washing walls.

-walking while talking on the phone.

-wiggle those feet or bounce those knees while watching favorite show.

Even the smallest of movements can bring big results!

Yikes!

Okay, so my timing of starting this new way of life wasn't very good. Mother's day weekend was really bad for the dieters. The food at the parties was unbelievably yummy. I just haven't had two meals that were just out of this world in one day before and the left overs still taste really good. I will undoubtedly finnish the brunch left overs, however, I have been colecting the tools I need to keep going strong. With the left-overs, I just have to work that much harder for this next week. I have got three different workouts so I won't get bored plus I just found some cool stomach buster moves trying to get to my blog. So, as soon as Lainie is down for her morning nap, I will be trying out the first new work out. (doubling it because of the quiche that I will be having for breakfast.)
One funny. I bought a pedometer today and put it on when I got home tonight. I started marching in place while reading the pamphlet of it. My husband said asked what I was doing and when I answered he said that it wasn't going to do anything for me. My son jumped to my defence and explained that it was just like doing the step aerobics on the wii or walking so it will help me out. My husband just kind of shrugged okay and went on with his fourth piece of pizza. We will see who gets fit first. (and the funny thing is the fact that he is supposed to be preparing for a 25 mile bike ride that will be 1 month and two days away. He hasn't done one thing to train. I pray he doesn't have a heart attack or stroke while doing it cold. He is 25 lbs heavier than he has ever been.) I will lose that before he does. That is what will be driving me for the next three months. So wish me luck!

First day

Well, the first day hasn't gone too badly. I have stuck to this plan pretty well until dinner. I fought the erge to go get a sausage and egg croissant for breakfast after taking Riley to school and I talked Riley out of having to go get something for lunch. I fought the erge to eat the rest of Lainie's grilled cheese sandwich. I even drank a gallon of water today. Then came dinner time and all the chaos that comes with it. I ended up making spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread. Everything together took all of 15 minutes maxium to get from freezer to table. I kept a calorie count until dinner after I ate three pieces of garlic bread. (my weakness!) I am craving the ice cream bars I bought from the Schwan man a couple hours before I decided to start this journey. They are sooooo calling my name. I will be strong because of the bread scarf down.lol
I even got 30 minutes of cardio in before Lainie woke up from her power nap. I didn't get the strength training in though. I did a mountain of laundry instead. All in all I can't complain to much about my first day especially for the fact that I am running on 3 hours of sleep.
Life is good!
